WRNS 100 Exhibition launch

On International Women’s Day, Wed 8 Mar 2017, the National Museum of the Royal Navy will mark 100 years since the formation of the Women’s Royal Naval Service (WRNS) by launching a special exhibition in Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.

The exhibition will chart social change, how the work of women has changed and the influence this has had on opportunities for women in today’s Royal Navy.

Other parts of the Naval Service, such as the Queen Alexandra’s Royal Naval Nursing Service (QARNNS) and the Royal Marines Band Service will be featured too; next year marks 25 years since the RM Band Service first accepted female recruits.

Alternatively if you have an interesting story or an artefact that you are prepared to loan, please contact the museum direct at e[email protected]

The exhibition is expected to run at the NMRN (www.nmrn.org.uk) in the Babcock Gallery until the end of 2017.
