Royal Marines Annual Boot Match 16 December 2016 Topic: Fighting armsRoyal Marines The Royal Marines Boot Match is an annual rugby event held at every Royal Marine Unit before the Christmas leave period. At 30 Commando Royal Marines based at RM Stonehouse, Plymouth, the Senior Non Commissioned Officers went head to head against the Officers at the Navy playing field in Keyham. Warrant Officer 1 Liam Dowthwaite RM, the Regimental Sergeant Major at 30 Commando, said, “It was a real Clash of the Titans and a fiercely contested game”. The game was won by the Officers, taking a 17 – 7 win. He added, “Both teams played exceptionally well having had little time to practice and they showed true Commando Spirit”.
