For the third consecutive year HMS Talent paraded through this scenic seaside town as part of Dawlish Armed Forces Day.

Led by the Air Force Cadet volunteer band, the parade marched from the Dawlish branch of the Royal British Legion (RBL), along The Strand before arriving on to The Lawn in the centre of Dawlish where formalities were concluded with the playing of the National Anthem.

Weather conditions were absolutely glorious and the parade was greeted by hundreds of well-wishers lining the streets.

Six RBL clubs including Newton Abbot, Kingsteignton and Braunton were represented, and alongside local Air, Army and Sea Cadets, and platoons from the local Cubs and Scout groups, HMS Talent ship’s company were immensely proud to be invited to take part in such a prestigious occasion.

Once fell in on The Lawn the ceremony of colours and the last post was conducted followed by a rousing chorus of the National Anthem.

On completion of the parade, Talent ship’s company were invited to meet the public to share stories and explain naval life in its fullest.

Then it was into the marquee for some well-deserved refreshment and to ‘splice the main brace’ RBL style!  Lt Cdr Tom Elliot RN (Rtd) gave a speech welcoming and thanking Talent ship’s company for supporting the event.

Talent’s Commanding Officer, Cdr Jamie Mitchell, was presented with a submarine cake by the Dawlish branch of the Royal British Legion.
