Combined Task Force 150 (CTF-150) is one of four task groups part of Combined Maritime Forces (CMF), a multinational task group formed of 38 members and partners. Their key priorities are to deter illicit activity, strengthen maritime security and reassure the region and international communities.
As of January 2023, the UK is currently in command of CTF-150.
CTF-150 was established near the beginning of Operation Enduring Freedom and is made up of warships from numerous Coalition Nations. Contributors have included the UK, France, Canada, Germany, Pakistan, Italy, Australia, Denmark, and the United States.
The ships of CTF-150 are tasked with Maritime Security in the Gulf of Oman and the Indian Ocean. They operate throughout this area to prevent terrorism and the illegal trade of drugs and weapons which funds and supports international terrorist organisations.
Combined Task Force 150 is currently commanded by Captain James Byron RN, who is supported by an international staff made up of Officers and sailors from the Royal Navy, Italian Marina Militare, and the Royal New Zealand Navy.
The work these 38 nations do – ready and stronger together – is a clear demonstration of what can be achieved when like-minded nations come together for the common good.
