HMS Quorn visits WW2 graves 19 May 2016 Topic: Fighting armsSurface Fleet Four sailors from HMS Quorn visited La Delivrande War Cemetery in Normandy on 17 to 18 May 2016 to pay their respects those lost when WW2 destroyer HMS Quorn was sunk in 1944. The Hunt-class destroyer was operating as an escort for troop convoys during Operation Neptune, the D-Day Landings in Normandy in June 1944. On 3rd August, she was hit and sunk during a heavy attack by enemy forces. Four officers and 126 ratings were lost. AB(MW) Brown, seen laying a wreath, said, "it was deeply moving to visit the graves of men who served on HMS Quorn in the past".
