Republic of Korea Naval students visit BRNC

An opportunity to experience training was among the highlights of a visit to Britannia Royal Naval College (BRNC) by a delegation from the Republic of Korea Naval Academy.

Three Midshipmen, accompanied by a Staff Officer, spent four days at the College in a visit designed to improve professional links between the establishments and the Services they represent.

The visitors took part in a PT session alongside their UK counterparts and were given the chance to get out onto the River Dart in the small boats owned by the College. 

They were also taken to sea on one of the Royal Navy’s P2000 patrol boats for a navigation exercise and saw where Young Officers practise their skills in BRNC’s multi-million-pound bridge simulator.

Captain Jol Woodard, the Captain of BRNC, said:  “We have a good relationship with the Republic of Korea Naval Academy and regularly host visits from their students and staff. 

“These visits facilitate a greater understanding between our two organisations and allows for an exchange of information on training systems and practices.”

The visit to the South West included a look around Devonport Naval Base in Plymouth and other sites within the city.  On leaving BRNC the delegation headed to London for two days of cultural visits.
