Oxford URNU Midshipman awarded Lord Lieutenant’s Meritorious Service Award

On 30 Oct 18 Midshipman Emily O’Donovan, Oxford URNU, was awarded the Lord Lieutenant’s Meritorious Service Award, considered to be second only to the Queen’s Honours List.

The award ceremony took place in distinguished company at Pembroke College Oxford University.

Midshipman Emily O’Donovan’s citation included her outstanding attendance record, exemplary service as the Senior Midshipman of the Unit, her performance during the disaster relief EXERCISE TRAFALGAR in Oct ‘17 and her work in delivering genuine benefits to Larkrise Primary School during the Unit Outreach Project in Nov ‘17.

There are 15 URNUs located across the UK offering opportunities to 750 undergraduates from the country’s leading universities.

The URNU's mission is: "To develop an understanding of the Naval Service in undergraduates, so that those who go into civilian employment are positive advocates thereof and to facilitate a Naval Career for those who choose one."
