Royal Navy Women through to the Finals of The Women in Defence Awards UK

Three Royal Navy women have been selected as finalists for the fourth annual Women in Defence UK Awards 2019.

The trio have been recognised in the following categories: Inspirational, most collaborative and unsung heroine, having previously been shortlisted from 470 nominees from across the defence community, including the Armed Forces, MOD Civil Service, GCHQ, MI5, SIS, defence industry and the defence 3rd sector.

Chief Petty Officer Janine Potts, Co-Chair of the Naval Service Commonwealth Network, and previously shortlisted in the most collaborative category said: "I am so surprised and feel extremely humble to be selected as a finalist in the Women in Defence Awards. There are so many inspirational women in this category. It was amazing just to be shortlisted!"

HMS Artful’s ships company also received a special mention from the Women in Defence judges after just missing out on the top three spots going through to the finals: “We all feel that it would be appropriate to send a particularly strong note back to the CO congratulating the unit on their achievements.”

The Finals Award Dinner will be held at the Guildhall, London, on November 19 when the finalist for each category and the woman of the year will be announced. The Rt Hon Penny Mordaunt MP will present the awards.
