HMS Collingwood PTIs spread some neighbourhood Christmas joy

A small group of Physical training Instructors (PTIs) based at HMS Collingwood brought their unique brand of Christmas cheer to the Base’s neighbour recently.

Over recent years it has become a tradition at the Base for members of the PT department to visit nearby Tudor Lodge Nursing Home to meet and sing carols with the residents. This year, COVID-19 has prevented normal visits to the Home but a group, led by Chief Petty Officer Physical Trainer (CPOPT) Adam Buffery were determined this would not prevent them spreading some cheer.

Braving rain and chilly winds, the group assembled in the Home’s garden and sang their carols even louder than usual so residents in the lounge would be able to join in.

Some staff joined the PTIs while others ensured no-one inside missed out on the festivities.

Speaking of the visit, CPOPT Buffery said, “It was an honour to be able to provide some Christmas spirit to the residence of Tudor Lodge.”

The visit was enjoyed as much by the sailors as the residents and they will hopefully return when restrictions are fully lifted.
